Elon Musk upsets Canadian leaders by saying provinces are ‘better off’ independent

‘Quebec should separate. They would be better off,’ Elon Musk said on X after the recent election put a pro-separation party in power, and ‘Alberta and Saskatchewan should separate too.’
(LifeSiteNews) — Elon Musk weighed in on the debate around some Canadian provinces potentially becoming independent, saying that Alberta, Saskatchewan and Quebec should leave Canada.
In reply to a Polymarket X post noting how Quebec just elected the pro-separation Parti Québécois to form its government for the first time in decades, the world’s wealthiest man and tech mogul let his opinion be known.
“JUST IN: Quebec’s new premier declares his dream of Québécois independence ‘will be realized one day,’” the Polymarket X post said.
Musk replied, “Good. Quebec should separate,” then added, “They would be better off.”
“Alberta and Saskatchewan should separate too,” he wrote.
In reply to Musk, Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe replied a simple “no” to the suggestion of a separate province.
Naheed Nenshi, the leader of Alberta’s leftist NDP and a former Calgary mayor, lashed out at Musk, saying, “We don’t need the opinions of any more of Trump’s allies. We already have one as Premier.”
Former Alberta Premier Jason Kenney called for Musk to give up his Canadian citizenship
“If @elonmusk still holds Canadian citizenship, the only honourable thing for him to do is to renounce it,” he wrote on X.
Other prominent Albertans were more open to the idea.
