The two people wanted for the murder of a Calgary police officer have turned themselves in.

Al-Azan Shah Muhammad, 17, and Amir Abdulrabhman, 19, both of Calgary, turned themselves in at city police headquarters about 5:30 p.m. local time.

Police allege the younger man was the driver. If charges are laid against him, media will have to remove all reference to him because of Young Offenders laws in Canada. When he was still wanted, Calgary police went to a judge to get permission to name him.

“The Calgary Police Service would like to thank the media and the public for their help in furthering this investigation. Time is crucial in the progression of investigations, as evidence can be tampered with or destroyed if not quickly secured,” said Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit.
