Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to hold Edmonton town hall Feb. 1

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will take questions from the public at a town hall-style gathering in Edmonton on Feb. 1.
It will be the sixth stop on the prime minister’s mid-mandate town hall series, which began in Halifax in January.
The town halls are open to the public. People wishing to attend the event are encouraged to register beforehand, although it is not mandatory.
A venue has yet to be to be announced.
Trudeau has also held town halls in Hamilton, Ont., London, Ont., and Quebec City. He will be in Winnipeg for a town hall next week.
At his Hamilton appearance, Trudeau was confronted by a heckler about the multi-million dollar settlement the government paid to former Guantanamo Bay inmate Omar Khadr.
The Canadian government paid Khadr a reported $10.5 million to settle a lawsuit that alleged the government violated his Charter rights.
Trudeau fielded questions on immigration and fighting intolerance during his stop in Quebec City, which is preparing to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Jan. 29, 2017 deadly mosque shooting where six men were killed.
According to Trudeau’s official itinerary, he was en route Monday to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Trudeau was last in Edmonton in October, when he met with people at an immigrant settlement organization, as well as the Edmonton city police officer injured in the Sept. 30 attack.
