Billy Corgan has spent more than three decades making music that millions of people recognize within seconds.

Now the Smashing Pumpkins front man is saying plainly what the music business so often works to keep quiet.

“I’m a Christian as well,” Corgan said.

And he has made a personal decision to talk openly about God in music—even if that honesty costs him.

Corgan put the issue in one unforgettable sentence:

This was no vague celebrity nod toward spirituality.

Corgan spoke about God, Christianity and Jesus as his Lord and Savior.

He also challenged an entertainment culture that treats almost every subject as acceptable—until the subject is God.
